Captain's Log

Captain's Log
Stardate 4

The Sky Patrol - that's the orbital guard - tried to tow us while I was asleep. Maxwell did some kind of crazy maneuver to whip their ships around by their magnetic tow cables. That dumbass threw me right off the couch, and broke the glass to boot.

We managed to lose them and make it back in one piece. We're headed to the surface, and we're going to hide the ship again. They might have thought we were trying to leave Plutonian space. Nobody is supposed to leave, ever, unless they are under special military orders.

I'll try to sneak back home before Mother notices I'm gone. Well, rather, before the guards do. She rarely comes to my room herself. A queen has more pressing matters to attend to. It's a long way from the rural outskirts of Tombaugh to the Plutonian royal palace. It usually takes me about an hour and half with a full backpack on foot. We've had to hide Million Suns a bit further out. I'm not sure whether the icy cliffs are scarier going up or going down. But it's the only way to spend time with my friends.

Going back home is always the worst part. Nothing fun ever happens at home. Usually I'm confined to one wing of the palace; which has the garden, the library, the infirmary, and my chambers. Mother doesn't like me being around the visiting nobles and diplomats anymore. I don't even think she likes me being around the rest of my siblings anymore. My siblings all sleep in a different wing.

I spend most of my days in the library with my tutor. My old tutor was Max and Nayla's uncle Ben. I liked him a lot better. My new tutor, Prof. Mandrillus, is a lot less nice; but I still enjoy reading and learning. On other days, I'm forced to do much less pleasant things. If I'm caught sneaking back in, I'll be wishing for an afternoon of being snapped at over math problems.

As far as I can tell, nobody has been assigned lately to check on my chambers during sleeping hours. It should be easy as always, but I still stress over it every time, and use an overabundance of caution. I'm going to try to relax, and not nibble my claws, and enjoy the few hours left with my friends until we land. And I should probably wash the dank out of my fur before we get there.
