Welcome to the exciting spacetime of Meteor Mythos.
We began writing Meteor Mythos in 2008 as a fantasy/scifi novella, a messy 20-odd pages in MS Word, called "The Power Within"; and a sequel. My co-author Matt wrote a few chapters of a third, but stopped. I took over and it sort of became our Dragon Ball GT - a weird and unfitting threequel. Every few years after that we would reboot the series concept in some new form. Eventually, the name Meteor Mythos was born.
Over time we have adapted parts of this into what is now Meteor Mythos Part 1. But Part 1 isn't the first part. Meteor Mythos is a saga, and each story is vastly different from the last, but they are all connected in a timeline, with gaps of varying sizes. Over hundreds of evenings after school, college, work, and D&D, we have concocted several stories that go before and after. There are actually a Part 0, a Part 0.5, and a Part -1. I promise it'll make sense later.
And, to clear up any possible confusion, "Franz" is both my pen name and the name of one of the characters. I adopted this pen name about 14 years ago when I was a teenager, around the time I began creating the character, and it would feel unfitting to change either now. Though he appears similar to my fursona, the character Franz as he appears in MM is not meant to represent me or my life in any way.
The characters in Part 3 are very different and unrelated to those of earlier parts, although they do encounter a few returning characters later on. It also uses a different format, it is told in the form of "ship's logs" - first-person diaries by the characters; whereas other MM parts are more traditionally novel-like in their third-person format. You'll get to enjoy the logs as they slowly release, almost as if you are experiencing the story in time with the characters. Future MM part releases will probably be whole books at once and hopefully in a physical format.
My co-author Matt, who wrote all of the original novella and invented many of the prevailing concepts, has transitioned into more of a story consultant role. It has fallen upon me to write Meteor Mythos Part 1 and the rest. I have been doing so, but I've already been working hard on Part 3 for a few years now (which itself is on its third iteration), and at this rate we will need to release them out of order if we plan to do so before we die. Screw it, Star Wars did it, Tolkien did it, and even GRRM still has a fanbase after all the waiting he puts them through.
I have created this special web version that I will be slowly releasing as I rewrite it for the last time. You can consider MMP3 a "web novel". At a later date, I would like to release a printed edition.
I sincerely hope that you enjoy Meteor Mythos Part 3, and I hope you look forward to exploring the rest of the Meteor Mythos spacetime.
So, without further ado I'd like to invite you to enjoy Meteor Mythos Part 3!
If you enjoy Meteor Mythos Part 3 and are into voice acting or sound design, drop me a message and let's talk about making an audio version.
Site info: MMP3's site backend is almost exactly the same as my main site. The CRT look is based on code by Lewis. https://codepen.io/abcdmku Free fonts Oval (FontFabric), Monofur and Eurofurence (Tobias Benjamin Köhler) are used. I'm guessing Tobias is a furry too, based on the font names.
